CurCol
The Interreg NWE project CurCol aims to demonstrate economic potential for the production chains from regionally produced plants to colourants in packaging. The project assesses three pilots for colourant production and application in plastic and paper packaging, by defining barriers, business cases and action plans. The focus of CurCol is on the yellow natural colourant Curcumin.
FibreNet
The common goal is finding comprehensive solutions to improve and tailor the properties of fibre products. This would enable new environmentally friendly products and products with totally new functionalities. The focus is mainly on biobased fibres, either natural or man-made in origin. FibreNet is an umbrella project for 15 individual research projects in the field of fibres.
BM2C6
By means of the new BM2C6 project, we aim to create a unprecedented value chain starting from biomass up to C6 monomers. All process steps will be demonstrated on pilot scale. This project is expected to show both ecologic and economic benefits for the entire value chain. This will give a wide range of opportunities to industrial partners to step in and differentiate themselves in sustainable activities.
Sustainability aspects of lignin conversion into biofuels, value-added chemicals and chemical products
Sustainability aspects of lignin conversion into biofuels, value-added chemicals and chemical products, PhD project in collaboration with Eindhoven University of Technology
Pure Nature: 100% biobased (BB100)
The main goal of the BB100 project is the development of a process chain towards fully bio-based man-made fibre materials. This does not only include the mere processing of biopolymers, but also commonly used additive materials like plasticizers, flame retardants, colorants and nucleation agents. Fully bio-based yarns and textile demonstrators will be developed.
LIBERATE project – Towards a more holistic Biomass pretreatment Technology
LIBERATE aims to realize the first pilot scale plant for the so-called ‘lignin-first’ approach, a novel route produce not only cellulose, but also an aromatic oil directly from woody biomass. These fractions can serve as a feedstock for many fuels and chemicals and will be evaluated by interested third parties. Parallel to these R&D activities, an in-depth techno-economic and sustainability assessment will be made.
